Okay in keeping with the somewhat fannish theme of our Friday posts this term, something else I’m fannish about: The Dresden Files books by Jim Butcher. YOU GUYS. These books are ASTOUNDING. I love them SO. MUCH. They’re dark and gritty but hopeful and glorious, the plot is deep and complex while providing action and pace, the mythology is glorious (did I use that adjective already?) and just … *wavy hands of inexpressibility*. I love them. If you like urban fantasy (or even if you just like action movies, probably, and can stand your action movies with some magic thrown in) and you haven’t read these yet, go check them out. Immediately. <3
Hearkening back to the Robot Love Story vid from a couple of weeks ago, it turns out that Channing Tatum does a pretty sweet robot.
Welcome to #MadeItMonday, where I post something I’ve made in the previous week, and where you can join in and post something you made too! The rules are easy: post a pic somewhere of something you’ve made in the last week (ish; let’s say in the last month as the hard-and-fast) and tag it. Sit back and enjoy scrolling through all the beautiful things we’ve collectively created, and celebrate the fact that humans can be awesome! 🙂
BADGES. Y’ALL, I HAVE BADGES.
Well, have is a strong word. ‘Have ordered’ is probably a more accurate phrase.* But anyway. LOOOOOOOOOK, I DESIGNED PRETTY BADGES FOR THE LAUNCH OF WHERE SHADOWS RIIIIIIISE!!!!! I’m super happy with how these turned out and I really can’t wait to see them in person. I’ll post a picture when I get them. In the meantime, enjoy the pics and plot which one you’d prefer** 😉
* Where ‘probably’ = ‘definitely’. Naturally.
** Totally open to posting some of these internationally if people want them. Let me know and I’ll look into postage costs <3
What have you made this week? (It doesn’t have to be fancy!!) Don’t forget to tag your contribution, or even better, leave a link in the comments!! I love seeing what inspiring things other people have made 🙂 🙂 🙂
This one’s a little longer than usual, but I promise it’s worth it. This SUPER cute story is part of the LXD series (League of Extraordinary Dancers) and one of my favourites. (I’ll share my other fav. next week :3)
As if not most intense marriage proposal ever. I am actually speechlessly in awe of how much effort this guy put in to arrange the whole thing. Like, whooooooooooa. #impressed. Clickety-click on the image to make it biggier B-)
(Source: My mum sent this to me on Pinterest originally, but I also found it at 9Gag here.)
Congratulations! You made it to the bottom! You win the prize of leaving a comment to let us know the weirdest/wildest/craziest/most intense marriage proposal you’ve heard of in real life! 😀 (But seriously, please leave a comment at let me know! ;))
Ermagersh, I couldn’t believe it when I found this video the other day: LXD are a dance troupe who’ve done a series of short films about dancers with superpowers (there are four seasons of it at present, and it’s directed by Jon M. Chu, who also directed Step Up 2 and Step Up 3D, movies I unashamedly *adore*) and they are AWESOME. Like, seriously, these guys are so pro it hurts. And the composer of the piece of music in the video below, Kerry Muzzey, is one of my favourite composers of all time too. The track that first made me fall in love, where Muzzey wrote a track setting the sounds that the Earth makes to music, (I should post that next week.) is just sheer glorious genius. So when I discovered that the two had been combined into three minutes of awesomeness on So You Think You Can Dance? (another fav show of mine, for the limited time we were able to get it here in Australia :\ #unimpressedfaces), I almost died of happiness 😀 Do yourself a favour: take three minutes out of your schedule, hit play, sit back, and enjoy the show.
Anyone else out there obsessed with dance shows? What good moves have I missed by not having access to all these amazing American dance shows? Leave a comment and let me know!!
