Made-It Monday: Toadstool Cake

Welcome to #MadeItMonday, where I post something I’ve made in the previous week, and where you can join in and post something you made too! The rules are easy: post a pic somewhere of something you’ve made in the last week (ish; let’s say in the last month as the hard-and-fast) and tag it. Sit back and enjoy scrolling through all the beautiful things we’ve collectively created, and celebrate the fact that humans can be awesome!

Made this one a few weeks ago for a friend’s daughter’s party. The inspo picture they provided was a fondant cake, and they resignedly said that they didn’t like fondant, but assumed that to get the look they wanted, they’d just have to put up with it.

But no! I assured them. This is a thing I can do without fondant! We can have buttercream icing for a toadstool and chocolate bark for a tree stump and meringues for mushrooms, and there will be no fondant and all will be well!

They were excited by this prospect, which is always nice 🙂

And so, without further ado, the fondant-less toadstool-onna-stump-with-fungus birthday cake! The toadstool was white chocolate mud cake with blackberry buttercream filling, and the stump was dark chocolate mud cake with…. er, filling? Um, probably cookies and cream, because that’s always super popular, but I can’t remember without going to look it up :’D

Oddly, the photos make the toadstool seem too big in comparison to the stump, but irl the proportions worked. Om nomity!

And now, what have you made this week? Don’t forget to tag your contribution, or even better, leave a link in the comments!! I love seeing what inspiring things other people have made 🙂 🙂 🙂
