So I Changed Careers…

Apparently, according to the calendar (whom I mightily suspect of lying, tbh), it’s now August?

Guys, this has been A Year. In fact, it might have been TWO years already so far since January 1st.

I went into February aka The Start Of The School Year full of optimism that this year, this year, it would be the year that I made writing and teaching work together effectively, because I had a System. It’s a great system. I’m still using it and I fully endorse it.

Especially since what it revealed to me was that my failure thus far to make teaching and writing fit together… wasn’t actually a failure on my part. The two areas are just basically abjectly incompatible due to the way that teaching chews you up and spits you out on a weekly (nay, daily) basis.

So in early March, I decided that maybe toward the end of the year, I’d look for a new job for 2023.

Ha. Ah ha ha ha.

Yeah so the universe SERIOUSLY had other plans and I’ve been in my new job for two weeks now. It’s a lovely cosy desk job with set hours and no homework, and I can feel my brain cells regenerating already. Actually the hardest part of it has been training myself to NOT think about work outside of work hours, because I’m used to having to do that, and now I… don’t.

Anyhue.

The long and the short of it is that I’m (hopefully) back to weekday blogging now for realsies, my Insta (esp. stories) is firing up again, and I’ve even joined the TikTok (byamylaurens) 😮

*cracks knuckles* Let’s see what this next six months has in store.
