So, either because I’ve never had to do this before, or because my brain is absent (I’m home sick), or for any other semi-plausible reason you care to pick, I really have no idea how to do this.
So I’ll just do it, shall I?
I have a book contract.
I have a BOOK CONTRACT!!!!!! OHMYGOSH A BOOK! CONTRACT!!!!!!!!!
Better? O:) 😀
I’m not actually as hyper about it as the multiple exclamation marks suggest. Mostly because I’m still peering suspiciously around the room, waiting for someone to say something like, “Smile! You’re on Candid Camera! HA HA, JOKE’S ON YOU!” 😀
But anyway, details. So. The contract, she is for a non-fiction book – so this is not a novel, y’all. Be warned. One day, there will be a novel, but it is not this day. This non-fiction book, she is contracted to Tyche Books Ltd., and she is currently titled “From the Ground Up”. And she is about worldbuilding, and why you should do it, and how to do it right so you don’t either fall into the Black Hole of Worldbuilding Doom, or create implausible rivers. Because these are Bad Things, yes yes, they are.
So it’s about how to do worldbuilding right, but mostly it’s about the cool things you can do with worldbuilding, and mostly-mostly it’s about how geography influences culture. And it is one of the more terrifying things I’ve ever decided to write, because the Research, OH, THE RESEARCH. *smack* < — me, falling down dead.
But! You guys, I have a contract for it! Someone actually wants me to write this thing! And if I am a Good Inky and write it on time, then you will hopefully see it in the flesh, as it were, in the first quarter of 2015.
So, there you have it: a newsy-announcementy-thing. RAH!
