Colour Theory Like Whoa

I’ve been kind of binge watching art videos this last week, I’ll be honest. I mentioned on Monday that I’ve really been missing making physical art in the last year or two. I used to draw A LOT in high school (in years 11 and 12, I carried a sketch book around with my notebook to all my classes – you can see a couple of my old things here on my very old, rarely used DeviantArt account!) and the urge to learn digital painting has been building and building the last few years, not least because it means I could draw cool character art to go with my books.

So. Binging art videos.

This one was kind of mind-blowing. Like, I KNOW that cyan-yellow-magenta are primary colours of light, but I’d never seen it broken down this way before, and watching someone use two paint colours and mixing them to make red?!?! Like, IDK, I’d always just assumed CMYK was for light only not paint, or something? Because, like, they SHOW you in primary school the colour mixing with red, blue and yellow as primaries.

No one shows you you can mix yellow and magenta paints to make red.

Where has this been all my life??

What awesomeness have you found on the web this week? <3
