General Updates

Short version: lots of publishing, no writing.

I’ve been eating too much sugar lately, which negatively impacts my sleep, and I really need to kick that to the curb again. However, that involves willpower which involved energy which I’m lacking because of poor sleep, and you see how things are 😀

Also, discovered the hard way that a) I now officially have constant asthma (thanks to the Australian bushfires back in January) triggered by cold air (hi, Canberra winter >.<) and the main preventative medication gives me horrendous brain fog and executive dysfunction as a side effect, and the second type of medication I’ve tried flat doesn’t work. Yay! >.<

So I need to go back to the GP and try the third and final option, and cross my fingers VERY HARD that it will a) work and b) not destroy my brain power.

Hence, lots of publishing work, which is largely repetitive and mindless, and zero writing, though I’ve been listening to a LOT of really good courses and lectures lately and the way I think about stories has shifted for the better.

If you’re interested, Brandon Sanderson’s BYU lectures are all free on YouTube, and Maggie Stiefvater (one of my favourite authors ever) recently released an online course that you can buy here on Etsy for $99US.

I’m on holidays from school right now and have been working on the wrap up for The Black Kookaburra’s Cover To Cover Book Trope Pins campaign (OH, THAT’s the other made-it Monday thing I did this week, I made colouring pages!), on starting to pack boxes for the A Fox Of Storms And Starlight Fan Kits, processing Q1 royalties for Inkprint Press, and working on edits for How To Map, which is coming out ridiculously soon and I really should have finished that by now, but here we are.

At some point, I also need to get cracking on the 2021 Inklets. The line-up is finalised, about 2/3rds of the illustrations and covers are done, and now I need to start the work of actually formatting the books. Oh, and blurb them, so that I can finalise the full-wrap covers.

Oh, and you probably saw yesterday but the Stand-In Hearts campaign is live, which was obviously a Major Thing I worked on last week, AND the Inkprint Press website is finally (almost) fixed again, and you can purchase our books direct if you so desire! Yay!

…I think I’m going to go take a nap. Hang in there; I hope the rest of your week is peaceful. <3
